Job Description:

  • Job Summary
    • Researches, analyzes, evaluates, designs, and provides oversight to the Southwest Airlines qualified and nonqualified retirement plans. Key duties include developing and redesigning plans; ensuring plans remain competitive and cost effective; and assuring the compliance and reporting for government regulations including but not limited to ERISA, Internal Revenue Service, DOL regulations, USERRA, etc.

Due to the nature of this role, you would be required to work from our Dallas, TX Headquarters facility during business hours.

  • Responsibilities
    • Implement knowledge of payroll and record keeping system(s), advanced Excel, and Southwest Airlines systems to deliver an integrated approach to retirement operation (administration)
    • Manage USERRA compliance including program implementation, developing communication strategies, identifying and forecasting pertinent problems, and evaluating and recommending solutions
    • Manage the profit-sharing budget by pulling large amounts of data, computing contribution ratios, and partnering with Finance to present to Senior Leadership for approval and implementation
    • Mentor peers by being a point of support, providing guidance and subject matter expertise, and answering inquiries to build retirement plan knowledge and proficiency
    • Oversee the distribution of profit-sharing funds by determining Employee eligibility and determining the appropriate allocation based on plan limits
    • Act as a subject matter expert on retirement policies and procedures by attending educational presentations on retirement plans to Ensure plans are fully compliant with relevant governing rules and regulations
    • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process
    • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
    • Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
    • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
    • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
    • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong, which does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
  • Education
    • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience
    • Expert-level experience, expansive and far-reaching knowledge in:
      • Retirement plan administration
  • Licensing/Certification
    • N/A
  • Physical Abilities
    • Ability to perform work duties from limited space workstation/desk/office area for extended periods of time
    • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
    • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
  • Other Qualifications
    • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.

Pay & Benefits

  • Competitive market salary from $116,350 - $129,300 * depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
