Position Summary

This position will strategically support and mentor Field Safety Specialist throughout the responsible territory. Focused on building proficiency in job scopes, process improvements, and hazard identification. Works to detect, prevent, and mitigate safety risks. Provides subject matter expertise on field observations and provides consultation and guidance on corrective action development. Collaborates with and supports a Functional Area on safety issues. Strategically engages on safety trends and recommended corrective actions. It serves as a resource for developing, implementing, and sustaining various company-wide safety initiatives.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

This is an hourly paid position with an Hourly rate: $57.69 - $96.15

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $126,000

Bay Area Maximum: $200,000

&/OR

California Minimum: $120,000

California Maximum: $190,000

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Responsibilities:

*A Key Mentor to specialist in the organization, and assists the supervisor and specialist in identifying areas for improving job proficiency and education.

*Strategic review and communication of workloads to ensure adequate support across the territory.

*Conduct field and driver observations.

*Supports accident investigation team as a subject matter expert to help determine causal factors.

*May lead the causal analysis portion of the investigation.

*Represents PG&E through interactions with Cal/OSHA.

*Recommends corrective actions.

*Mentors supervisors on safety processes and applicable programs as part of field safety observations.

*Performs technical safety gaps in company policies for High-Risk Projects.

*Communicates safety trends to the LOB at Safety meetings.

*Serves as a Safety subject matter expert for LOB supervisors and field employees.

*Consult with LOB Supervisors on incident investigations, SIAP completion, and corrective action development.

*May be committee chairperson for rigging, ropes, and fall protection.

Qualifications

Minimum:

*High School Diploma or GED

*7 years of relevant experience

*Must have, or obtain within 1 year from the date of hire, an initial level, or higher, safety professional certification (CUSP, CHST, OHST, or equivalent

Desired:

*BA/ BS or equivalent experience, preferably in environmental health and safety, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, engineering or science

*Safety Professional Certification (e.g., Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Management)

*Expert-level knowledge of PG&E safety procedures and the Code of Safe Practices.

*Expert-level knowledge of Cal/OSHA general industry and construction safety orders and a basic understanding of other recognized safety regulations and standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA, Fed/OSHA, etc.).

*Proficient at conducting and evaluating root cause analysis investigations and the effectiveness of corrective actions.

*Proficient at conducting hazard evaluations for complex jobs and recommending appropriate controls.

*Knowledge of job safety analysis.

*Knowledge of quality corrective action understanding.

*Knowledge of office and field ergonomics.

*Proficient at delivering precise, understandable oral presentations to groups.
