Job Summary
The Business Intelligence Analyst will work collaboratively as a member of the Emerging Technology team to support data management, training, analysis and benchmarking initiatives for the BrainHealth Project. The analyst will assist with the ongoing development of and implementation of tools to promote the development and use of analytic dashboards designed for the BrainHealth Project.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in related field.
Four (4) years related professional experience.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field (Master's degree a plus).
  • Professional certifications in BI, data warehousing, or cloud platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, QuickSight, AWS) strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with BI tools, SQL, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Familiarity with data governance and regulatory compliance (e.g., IRB, HIPAA) for research or health-related data.
  • Basic understanding of scripting or programming (Python, R, or Shell) for automation and data processing.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Data Analysis: Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA), identify trends, and generate insights to support business decision-making
  2. Reporting & Visualization: Build and optimize dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker, QuickSight).
  3. Performance & Quality: Monitor data workflows and reporting solutions for reliability, accuracy, and performance; troubleshoot issues and implement improvements.
  4. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with data scientists, data engineers, and stakeholders to translate technical findings into actionable business insights.
  5. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain thorough documentation of BI processes, data definitions, and best practices while ensuring adherence to data governance and regulatory standards.

Shared office environment. Long hours at computer terminal. Interaction, meetings, and collaboration with other team members, management, contractors, students, and the public.

Additional Information
After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. May be required to use personal computer and other standard office equipment. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
