Surgical Technologist - ASC Virginia Beach, VA Pay From: $24 per hour MUST: Experienced Surgical Technologist - ASC 1+ years of experience as a Surgical Technologist 1+ years of experience working in a fast pace Ambulatory Surgery Center 1+ years of Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine experience 1+ years of experience in general diagnostic and special procedures Experience working across specialties of orthopedics, otolaryngology, podiatry, urology, gynecology, plastic, oral surgery, pediatric dental, and general surgery Great communications skills and attention to details Basic computer skills Must know and be able to carry out aseptic technique Must be able to anticipate surgeons needs and act accordingly Must have a high degree of judgment and initiative, be able to follow instructions carefully, and be able to act in an efficient, effective, and rational manner in emergencies Must have the ability to interact with other members of the surgical team in a cooperative and supportive manner Must have a thorough knowledge of operating room technique Must possess strong organizational skills and flexibility Physical and mental - walking, standing, pushing, pulling, required to move patients Potential exists for exposure to blood and body fluids as well as other hazardous materials Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) Current CPR Certification High school diploma or GED certification DUTIES: Prepare instruments, equipment and appropriate narcotics needed for surgical procedures Clean and sterilize operating room and instruments after a procedure in a timely manner Creates a strong communication channel with office doctors in order to proactively and effectively service their needs Effectively communicates pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients Observe and maintain compliance with all OSHA guidelines including hazard communication, MSDS, and PPE requirements Performs a variety of administrative tasks such as chart documentation, completing consent paperwork, processing medical clearances when a nurse is not present, creating daily surgery assignments, daily 24-hour patient call back list, and verifies completion daily Assist and provide services requested/required by the surgeon during a procedure while utilizing aseptic techniques Performs other duties as needed to ensure the safety and comfort of all patients as well as the efficient operation of the facility Quadrant is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
