Another Source's client, Pomona College, is recruiting an Interim Associate Director of Campus Events to join their team in Claremont, California with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule!

Located in Claremont, California- just 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, Pomona College is a perfect place to blaze a new trail in your career. The Campus Events team plays a critical role in building out the scheduling infrastructure for all events taking place at Pomona College and the Interim Associate Director will be the key player in executing that strategy. Relocation is not offered for this position.

The Role:

Are you a dynamic event professional with a passion for creating memorable experiences? The Associate Director, Campus Events will lead the planning and execution of high-profile events, conferences, and campus-wide programs that bring our vibrant community together! We're looking for an EMS scheduling expert who can lead and manage our team through the events lifecycle from requests to execution. In this role, you'll work with a cross-functional team to deliver exceptional events ranging from large-scale celebrations like Commencement and Class Day to smaller, high-impact gatherings. You'll manage event planning, budgeting, vendor relations, and student staff, ensuring seamless execution from start to finish.

Reporting to the Director, College Events, you'll make an impact by playing a key role in shaping campus traditions and enhancing the student, faculty, and alumni experience. Key Responsibilities:

    Lead & Execute Campus Events - Oversee the planning and implementation of major institutional events (Commencement, Class Day, Senior Dinner, etc.) while ensuring smooth logistics, budgeting, and coordination with stakeholders.
  • Manage Event Operations & Scheduling - Supervise internal and external event logistics, oversee the College's event management system (EMS), and refine policies to optimize space usage and event approvals.
  • Oversee Client & Vendor Relations - Serve as the primary contact for event inquiries, reservations, contracts, and invoicing while ensuring high-quality service and seamless execution.
  • Supervise & Develop Staff - Lead, train, and manage an Event Coordinator and a team of student Conference Assistants to support event planning and operations.
  • Drive Communication & Department Administration - Manage event-related communications (newsletters, website updates), track budgets, ensure compliance, and collaborate across departments to support College-wide initiatives.

Required Experience:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related area is preferred. A valid driver's license is required.
  • Licenses/Certificates: A valid driver's license is required or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in event management is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in hospitality management or at an academic institution is preferred.

Salary range: $80,000 - $85,000
