Midwest Veterinary Supply is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for our Deforest, Wisconsin Branch.

Job Summary:

Ensure safe and effective processing of prescription and non-prescription medications and devices by properly labeling and packaging products for delivery to individuals via common courier under the direction of the Pharmacist on Duty. Manage inventory by maintaining and organizing stock.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Accurately fill prescriptions and transcribe patient data into pharmacy software to generate labels for placement on product. Prepare product for shipment.
  • Provide customer service to veterinarians, pet owners, and sales representatives.
  • Manage filling of paperwork such as invoices and prescriptions.
  • Complete other duties, assignments and special projects as requested by Pharmacist on Duty.

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily
  • Must meet the requirements as defined in the Wisconsin Board of Pharmacy regulations
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • No experience required. One year of pharmacy technician or other customer order fulfillment experience is desired but not required. CPhT certification preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Basic computer skills, ability to operate a Windows-based computer and data entry
  • Ability to differentiate details related to product codes and descriptions (such as verifying a string of numbers)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and professional demeanor
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and adapt to changes in processes
  • Well-developed critical thinking skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Frequent deadlines may result in a fast pace of work, stress, and multi-tasking
  • Regular use of hands for writing, use of computer keyboard and mouse, and packing tools such as handheld scanners and tape guns
  • Vision: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Repetitive motion: reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, carrying
  • Regularly lift/move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs, balance, stand/walk on concrete floor for extended periods
  • Bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching
  • Frequent use of a telephone - listening and speaking

Equipment Used:

Windows based computer, tape gun, safety knife, safety equipment, markers, label equipment, packaging materials, telephone, fax and copier.

Work Environment:

Work will be performed indoors in a relatively temperature controlled climate where moderate heat, cold or humidity may be experienced. Moderate exposure to dust and dirt may also be expected. Work will typically be performed Monday through Friday. Working more than 40 hours per workweek may be required.
