Senior Advanced Systems Engineer - SDA GMI Program

Location: Scottsdale, AZ
Business Area: Space, Cyber & Intelligence Systems

Job Summary: As a Systems Engineer for the SDA GMI program, you will be part of a cross-functional team responsible for developing and deploying advanced ground operational systems. You will engage in the design and implementation of critical systems, with a focus on satellite communications, ground operations, and network design. This role requires a solid foundation in systems engineering principles, satellite communications, and software interface definitions.

Key Qualifications:

  • Satellite Communications: Experience with satellite communications, including constellation contact planning and ground operations.
  • Networking Design: Expertise in network design, with a strong understanding of networking protocols.
  • Software Subsystem Analysis: Experience in software functional analysis, interface definitions, and API development.
  • Requirements Engineering: Experience with requirements analysis, definition, management, and system design across the system development lifecycle.
  • Technical Analysis: Proficient in conducting technical analysis of system elements and evaluating COTS components, vendor products, and system specifications.
  • Ground Operations: Experience in ground system operations, particularly in satellite constellations.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze network systems, with emphasis on operational systems supporting satellite communications.
  • Perform functional analysis, performance assessments, and system design for software subsystems.
  • Manage requirements and system elements throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with senior customer stakeholders to drive technical discussions and decision-making.
  • Generate technical engineering products following industry standards and best practices.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Science, Engineering, or Mathematics.
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering or Science or Engineering or Mathematics
  • Minimum 8 years of Satellite constellation contact planning experience
  • Minimum 8 years of Ground operations experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Software functional analysis and interface definitions, including Application Programming Interface
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Research and analyzing data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine the feasibility of design or application

  • Master's Degree
  • Agile experience
  • Satellite communications knowledge
  • Ground to Satellite communication knowledge
  • Ground operations experience
  • Creative thinker with demonstrated success leading the systems development life cycle
