Sr Product Engineer - Chillers

What you will do

The Sr. Product Engineer is responsible to contribute to the product team through product design, testing, data analysis, and project management. This role will focus the interface between mechanical systems and how they are controlled. This will involve development of new concepts as well as troubleshooting issues that arise during lab testing. The Sr. Product Engineer will also support the manufacturing and sustaining of existing products and applying lessons learned to new developments. All these tasks also require strong communication skills and the ability to clearly present information to global engineering teammates, engineering managers, and product management.

How you will do it

  • Contributes to the on-time completion of programs and regularly reports on the status of projects.

  • Coordinate and help execute test programs to validate performance and reliability of controls systems and related electro/mechanical components.

  • Proficient in system control designs for mechanical devices such as motors, valves, and actuators.

  • Willing to learn theories, concepts, technical principles and processes related to fluid, thermal, and other mechanical aspects of commercial or industrial HVAC equipment.

  • Has proficiency in mechanical design and be able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into CAD models and physical prototypes.

  • Application of regulatory codes such as UL and CE as well as ability to learn specific regional requirements needed for global markets.

  • Work closely with the design and manufacturing teams in generating system controls and end of line validation for the best balance of cost, performance, and reliability.

  • Analyzes, designs, modifies and/or troubleshoots mechanical sub-components and electrical sub-systems based on test data, simulation, and modeling results.

  • Generate and review technical documentation for use within the product team and for distribution to external customers.

  • Occasional domestic and international travel (less than 10%).

  • Teamwork and the ability to work with many teams is critical in our global product development environment.

What we look for

  • BS in Engineering or related science (controls engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering)

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a related field

  • Experience with Chillers and Heat Pumps

  • Preferred experience with communication protocols such as ModBus and CANBus

  • Preferred familiarity with MATLAB Simulink or similar modeling and simulation platform

  • Proficient with organizing and processing large amounts of data

  • Experience with product development and sustaining of controls systems
