Description

Essential Functions



  • Participates in developing project scope, schedule, fee and estimate to complete (ETC) data for assigned tasks under the direction of a senior project controls specialist and/or project manager.
  • Assists in the creation of a work breakdown structure (WBS) and development of schedules and budget data (including resource loading) for those WBS elements. Prepares resource schedule and quantity, progress and performance reports.
  • Assembles and compiles schedule and cost data, inputs into the project controls database, and provides output to the project team. Monitors actual versus budget cost and job hours.
  • Reviews costs data and helps prepare estimate to complete (ETC) cost projections that are defendable.
  • Prepares status reports and other related project planning and controls documentation.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of any periodic (daily, weekly, monthly) status reports to keep KLJ's and/or customer's management team informed on the project progress. These reports may include labor productivity, schedule status, financial analysis, cost performance reports (CPR) and earned value curves and reports on either direct or indirect activities that are a part of the work.
  • Conforms with KLJ project delivery and safety standards.
  • Utilizes effective written and oral communication.


Responsibilities



  • Supports Senior Project Controls Specialist in identifying risks that may affect project profit, costs, schedules and customer relations.
  • Supports the project management team in maintaining timely and effective change management processes, procedures and systems.
  • Works with the PMO Manager to continuously improve the organization's project management capability and enhance the customer experience.
  • May train other Project Controls Specialists on enhanced processes.
  • On field assignments, assists with quantity tracking and retrieving project data from contractors.


Qualifications



  • A bachelor's degree in an industry-related field; applicable experience can substitute for education.
  • Travel is required, must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate motorized vehicles.


Preferences:



  • PMP, PgMP, PfMP, CAPM or equivalent certification; working towards PMI certification
  • Previous planning/scheduling and cost engineering experience in a professional services firm

  • Frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and move up to 50 Be able to walk on uneven terrain up to three miles per day


Hours and Travel

This position requires the individual work 40+ hours per week with up to 50% of the time spent in the office and 50% out of the office; however, this will vary greatly by project needs.
