REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Parks Manager, Associate at Delevoe Park.
This Job Announ cement will remain open until a sufficient number of applications are received .
General Description: Performs management duties associated with a regional park, neighborhood park, and/or a nature center. Supervises subordinate supervisors and staff engaged in maintenance, security, concessions, and recreational programming services.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in parks and recreation management, hospitality management, public administration, business administration, environmental sciences, engineering, or closely related field.
(One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)

Requires one (1) year managing park operations or natural areas or closely related experience including one (1) year lead work/supervisory experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses Required:
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License for duration of appointment.
Preferences:
Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with RecTrac Software, Facility Focus or Asset Works.
Master's Degree with major coursework in Parks and Recreation Management, Hospitality Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or closely related field.
CPRP and/or CPRE
ServSafe Manager Certification/Certified Food Manager
Ability to speak foreign language (Spanish, French/Creole)

Additional Information:

All candidates must complete an extensive ten (10) year work history verification and criminal background check which includes post-offer physical examination and clearing of DCF's Affidavit of Good Moral Character (https://www.myflfamilies.com/service-programs/background-screening/docs/DCF%20AGMC.pdf). Ability to maintain authorization to operate a county vehicle/equipment.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Manages day-to-day park operations to include program implementation, staff support and supervision, customer service, facilities maintenance and security, and compilation of various operational reports related to safety, attendance and personnel issues, revenue, and inventory.

Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates employees. Supervises the volunteer program as site coordinator; develops volunteer opportunities.

Ensures compliance with directives, policies, procedures, laws, contracts, agreements and health and safety standards as it pertains to a park operation within a governmental agency.

Plans, organizes, implements and supervises community events and programs including education for leisure activities, athletics, tournaments, festivals, concerts, fairs, and expositions.

Works with organized groups and individuals to assess community-wide program needs and interests, formulates new programs, develop additional amenities, and support agency goals.

Supervises concession facilities to include ordering and inventorying food and purchasing equipment.

Reviews and approves requisitions for materials and supplies for park operations and maintenance.

Maintains budgets and records of revenue and expenditures of an assigned park or recreational facility.

Responds to incidents within the park and prepares narrative reports of incidents; enforces or refers enforcement to proper authorities.

Explains and interprets rules and regulations, fees, and charges.

Responds to park patron issues, complaints, comments and requests - listens, explains policies and procedures, resolves issues, and follows up as appropriate.

Conducts periodic inspections of all park areas and facilities; observes deficiencies in operation, safety, and condition; issues verbal or written directives to correct deficiencies.

Communicates with managers/supervisors, administrative staff, volunteers and the public in a positive and professional manner.

Maintains a professional and positive relationships with subordinates, peers, supervisors, and stakeholders.

Performs related work as assigned.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Demands

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Performs work that involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 25 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis, and up to 50 pounds on an occasion with skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office or equipment or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.

Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment)

Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

Involves routine and frequent exposure to animals/wildlife and various chemicals.
