JOB OVERVIEW:

The Director of Business Development is responsible for leading and overseeing a team of Business Development Executives (BDE). This role demands strong leadership ability, deep industry knowledge, and the capacity to make strategic decisions that contribute to Henry Schein's overall objectives. Role consists of orchestrating and leading the team to nurture, capture, retain, and expand our existing customer base and overall brand expansion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team of Business Development Executives to achieve key performance metrics and accountability.

  • Manage and support team involvement in high-level negotiations and closing of major new business opportunities with large accounts.

  • Collaborate closely with field teams and departments (e.g., marketing, operations, and finance) to align strategies and ensure smooth execution of goals.

  • Negotiate and develop winning contracts with corporate entities for Henry Schein's market expansion.

  • Organically assist in training the Zone General Managers ("ZGMs"), Regional Sales Managers/Regional Managers ("RSMs"), and Field Sales Consultants ("FSCs") with negotiating and developing distribution contracts.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Sales leadership experience within the IDN market and healthcare industry are required.

  • Proven ability to motivate and communicate effectively with teams, with demonstrated success in a highly competitive market.

  • Familiarity with CRM software and sales analytics tools.

  • Strong management and leadership skills with the ability to attract, retain, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to resolve disputes and complex occurrences effectively.

  • Exceptional presentation and public speaking skills.

  • Expert in independent decision-making, analysis and problem solving.

  • Ability to interpret financial information and external trends to drive business profitability and sales growth.

  • Leadership in achieving company goals and solving complex business challenges creatively.

  • Strong planning and organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Effective communication with senior management and key stakeholders.

  • Negotiation expertise with focus on managing internal and external relationships.

  • Ability to influence and build relationships, navigate organizational complexities, and resolve conflicts.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry practices, company policies, and procedures

  • Proficiency in multiple technical and business skills

  • Strategic planning capabilities.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Typically 12 or more years of increasing responsibility and complexity in terms of any applicable professional experience; 5 or more years of management experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Typically a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in related discipline. Master's degree or global equivalent a plus.

TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Travel Frequency: US Domestic travel will be approximately 50% or more.

Travel Purposes: Travel to include, but is not limited to, client meetings, team development sessions, corporate meetings, sales presentations, industry conferences, training, and trade shows.

Office environment. No special physical demands are required.

The posted range for this position is $141,755 - $202,886which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including education, prior experience, training, current skills, certifications, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.

This position is eligible for a bonus not reflected in the posted range.
