The Opportunity

The US Natural Gas Pipeline General Plant Maintenance Capital (GPMC) Facilities Projects Engineering Execution team has a career opportunity available for an experienced and enthusiastic Engineer. Reporting to the Manager, this position is responsible for providing engineering analysis and support to the US Natural Gas Pipeline sustainability and natural gas maintenance projects and their stakeholders.

What you'll do

  • Responsible for the engineering work associated to maintenance projects in natural gas facilities, i.e. compressor stations, meter stations and storage fields;
  • Gather maintenance project ideas technical data in early stages of development to determine the best engineering approach for their implementation;
  • Identify internal and third-party engineering resources to support assigned projects;
  • Compile data associated to bidding documentation for the selection of third-party engineering firms, including the definition of the Engineering Deliverables tied to varied project types
  • Review third party engineering bid documents and proposals for contract awarding;
  • Manage project specific engineering contracts including periodic interface and oversight of hired Engineering Service Providers (ESPs);
  • Schedule design and PHA reviews, ensuring proper stakeholder engagement during the design process and establish direction for the project overall design product;
  • Provide technical validation to the project design deliverables, including design calculations, design drawings, material lists, material quotes, equipment vendor drawings and manuals, etc., to ensure their compliance to Code, Company specifications, project needs and operational needs;
  • Trigger material procurement process for all items to be purchased by the Company;
  • Provide technical support throughout construction activities, including site visits and timely RFI responses
  • Support the project commissioning process;
  • Support and participate in internal initiatives within a Continuous Improvement loop;
  • Follow and ensure compliance with TC Energy's Practice of Engineering (POE) in all assigned work;
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited institution, or equivalent degree with relevant experience;
  • 4-8 or more of relevant progressive experience, particularly in technical environments;
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with capability to prioritize competing items in favor of a viable execution plan;
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective business relationships to reach team objectives;
  • Proven argumentative skills, capable of discerning viable paths from inefficient ones and promoting team support on chosen direction in the benefit of meeting projects goals;
  • Willingness to travel for work assignments, 20%-25% of time on business days only;

Preferred Qualifications

  • Design experience within the energy infrastructure industry is strongly desired;
  • Experience with applicable industry codes and standards, especially FERC 49 CFR 192;
  • Knowledge of mechanical or electrical equipment installation best practices;
  • Experience with heaters, filtering systems, coolers, meters, compressors, dryers, regulators, valves, silencers, and other ancillary equipment tied to gas, air, water and oil service fluids;
  • Experience with motor control centers (MCCs), auxiliary power unit (APU) generators, transfer switches, switchgear, transformers and other power distribution systems;
  • Experience with control panels, network systems, fire & gas detection, SCADA interfacing, HMIs, PLC programming and other automation systems;
  • Experience with engineering and project management software applications such as SAP, Microsoft & BlueBeam;
