Purpose:

The Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer position is a full-time on-site position based in Deer Park, TX. The project duration is anticipated to be ~1 year with the possibility of extension. The primary function of this role to serve as the Engineering Technical Assurance single-point-of-contact for rotating equipment design, operation and maintenance within their assigned production area.

Responsibilities:



  • Lead and/or participate in structured analysis processes such as root cause analysis, causal reasoning questions, Bad Actors Elimination, Risk Assessments, and Solution Development.
  • Conduct failure analysis and problem solving of major rotating equipment problems. These issues are often initially identified as machinery problems but may involve complex systems evaluations. Recognize when it is necessary to branch out and seek assistance from other disciplines.
  • Prepares / reviews equipment specifications.
  • Reviews the supplier data to assure compliance with project requirements and specifications including ASME vessel code and API standards.
  • Expand upon and apply existing PdM platforms such as vibration monitoring, compressor performance monitoring, lube oil condition monitoring, infrared thermography and Operator Task Management (OTM) to identify, analyze, predict and solve.
  • Keen safety awareness as it relates to rotating equipment systems. Focus and drive incident reduction and demonstrate a commitment to reduce rotating equipment operational and maintenance safety risks.
  • Lead team during pre-commissioning; commissioning and start-up.
  • Develop maintenance/overhaul plans for large and complex rotating equipment trains, including detailed scopes of work, documentation packages and quality plans. Support execution of large rotating equipment trains during PM and T/A events. Inspect and assure compliance for all parameters of established repair/installation hold points. Conduct run test prior to handover to Operations.
  • Able to perform job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an operating facility, this will require ability to acquire govt. issued TWIC identification.

What you will bring

Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:



  • Minimum of 8 years of rotating equipment mechanical engineering field experience in the petrochemical or oil refinery sector.
  • Understands how to interpret facility schematic drawings such as PFDs, P&IDs, and Equipment Layouts.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, hydraulic modeling software, reading and modifying P&IDs/Isometric drawings, and re-rating pumping systems.
  • Application of common API codes such as API 610/682/611/612/671/614, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, and reciprocating compressors.

Required:



  • Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited university, with an active TWIC card or ability to obtain a TWIC card.
