As a Senior Piping Designer, you will be responsible for having a full understanding of the project's scope, overall schedule, deliverables, milestones, manhour budgets, industry standards, applicable codes, and procedures. Responsibilities:
- Determine line count and estimated isometric quantities based on P&ID's.
- Be knowledgeable of client procedures, project procedures, and specifications.
- Identify and request information in the form of a 'Needs List' to maintain schedule.
- Provide design sketches/technical guidance utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge for drawing/model preparation by work share and/or less experienced Designers or CAD Technicians.
- Schedules and/or reviews/resolves 3D model interferences/clashes.
- Checks work assigned to work share and/or less experienced Designers or CAD Technicians for technical quality, accuracy and compliance with customer, Company, and discipline standards.
- Utilize a 3D model (AVEVA E3D/Navisworks) review software to monitor design quality and progress.
- Review and approve deliverables prior to issue.
- Coordinate the design effort with other engineering and design disciplines.
- Conduct internal design reviews and design reviews with the client.
- Ensure deliverable verification procedures are followed.
- Utilize AVEVA 3D to develop Piping Models, Pipe Supports, Equipment Models, Isometric and Orthographic Drawing extraction.
- Develop general arrangements of plant facilities, structures and equipment considering safe maintenance and construction while interfacing with all engineering and design disciplines.
- Plans and conducts field investigation trips. Utilize field design experience to perform field walk downs using P&ID's, locating tie points dimensionally, and routing pipe through existing facilities. Locate and identify pipe support types. Bring that back to the office for inputting the field data into an AVEVA E3D model.
- Projects may utilize Laser Scanning within AVEVA E3D.
- Execute projects within existing facilities with many obstructions and other design constraints.
What you will bring Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:
- 8+ years progressively responsible discipline related design experience.
- Strong understanding of basic engineering and/or design/drafting concepts. Has general understanding of other disciplines' roles in the design process.
- Able to discuss routine technical problems and communicate effectively with immediate supervisor and other project personnel.
- Able to utilize advanced PC, 2D CAD, and 3D CAD tools (if applicable), and other applicable hardware and software to perform duties.
- Experience using Scans within AVEVA E3D is a plus.
- Performs advanced design and able to utilize design tools effectively as well as providing technical direction and training.
- Piping drawing checking and verification experience in the office and in the field is a plus. Conducts more complex checking as needed.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities is critical.
- Commitment to customer service and ability to assist others in applying knowledge and understanding in solving functional problems within area of expertise.
- Ability to maintain confidential information critical.
- Willingness to travel or to accept field assignments preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in teams.
- Extensive experience in piping and layout design for powers generation and industrial facilities is required, chemical facilities is a plus, with at least 2 years of AVEVA E3D experience.
- Experience with the application of Microstation V8i & AutoCAD.
- MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
- 5 years 3D model design review software experience using AVEVA E3D.
Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training: Required:
- Two or three year technical diploma with piping design specific training / or AA degree.
Preferred:
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Additional information:
- Pay: $49.60/hr. - $72.94/hr. commensurate with experience.
