The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Seasonal Recreation Aide to work at several of our Neighborhood Parks.
This Job Announcement will remain open until a sufficient number of applications are received.
This position plays a vital role in our Summer Recreation program in our six (6) Neighborhood Parks. The program features free lunch and snack for the participants, guest speakers, life skills, nutrition, arts, culture, arts and crafts, sports, teen leagues, SPARK physical activity, STEM, special events, fishing, field trips, Fourth Annual Color Wars, hygiene, personal improvement, swim safety (for ages 6-8), New Starz Talent Showcase, and more. The six parks are located in the Broward Municipal Services District: Boulevard Gardens Community Center, Franklin Park, Lafayette Hart Park, Reverend Samuel Delevoe Memorial Park, Roosevelt Gardens Park, and Sunview Park.
General Description
Performs a variety of recreation program implementation activities and/or park maintenance at assigned location.
Works under close supervision according to set procedures.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires three (3) months in recreation, athletics, or closely experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses Required
None.
Preferences
Must have availability to work from 06/17/2024 - 08/09/2024, with variable hours between 8AM - 6PM, Monday through Friday.
Additional Information:
All candidates must complete an extensive ten (10) year work history verification and criminal background check which includes finger printing, post-offer physical examination, drug testing, and clearing of DCF's Affidavit of Good Moral Character (https://www.myflfamilies.com/service-programs/background-screening/docs/DCF%20AGMC.pdf). Ability to maintain authorization to operate a county vehicle/equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Coaches and leads structured and non-structured recreation, arts, and sports activities/programs in order to provide an opportunity for community involvement; provides a variety of recreation activities for community members; provides an opportunity to develop and improve skills in a variety of sports and recreation activities; promotes communication and community relations.
Assists with the implementation of a variety of recreation and leisure programs, special events, and related services for persons within the community, to include youth, teens, and seniors.
Instructs patrons in a variety of sports and recreation activities and equipment use in order to facilitate patron participation, ensure safety, and maximize patron enjoyment of the activities, events and programs.
Cleans offices, break rooms, restrooms, recreation centers/halls, pavilions, and related facilities in order to provide a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for work and recreation.
Resolves a variety of day-to-day issues concerning the public in order to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of park operation and/or service provided.
Performs related work as assigned.
