ABOUT THE ROLE:

As the Associate Manager, Electrical Engineer you will support Global Engineering and work closely with the Electrical Center of Excellence providing technical project management across operations functions for SC Johnson. You will support controls development of safe, smart, creative, and cost effective capabilities. You will be accounting for driving engineering standardization and implementing best Practice across SC Johnson's manufacturing facilities. You will lead design process and support major Home Storage projects across all global Ziploc production locations (Bay City, Varennes, Toluca, 3PMs), also supporting implementation of electrical standards. You will develop new solutions across the global Ziploc fleet using Industry 4.0 applications and advanced process instrumentation advancing our world class manufacturing process capabilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the electrical center of excellence leading development and maintenance of global electrical standards

  • Support SCJ's Engineering Work Process referencing ISO - 13849 (incl. includes control logic, instrumentation, P&ID's engineering calculations, risk assessment).

  • Follow ANSI (American National Standard Insitute) guidelines - including motors/drives, power systems, control panels, wiring, PLCs, HMIs, robotics, validations

  • Manage preferred vendor lists for all major power and controls components, including equipment check out and validation

  • Incorporate processes to troubleshoot operational problems, develop and revise P&ID's process control strategies, communicate, and provide training

  • Ability to independently develop and manage project scope, cost estimate, and schedule

  • Support technical teams through design phases of major projects, and support key maintenance/rebuilds as appropriate

  • Lead Design Failure Made Effect and Analysis (DFMEA) efforts for new systems and installations

  • Support the Center of Expertise (COE) to provide technical judgements that help guide business and/ or operational decisions

  • Drives creative thinking solutions in face of challenging business/project requirements

  • Work with plant engineering to navigate and solve critical technical problems (incl. complex safety system design), thereby enabling equipment design/efficiency improvement

  • Work with R&D and other technical partners on new scale up process developments

  • Provide breakthrough innovation opportunities involving capacity improvement, coast savings, process optimization, productivity, and new process control strategies

  • Research business and technical industry trends to understand boarder landscape

  • Lead thinking in key areas for global controls engineering community - transferring technology based innovation across geographical boundaries to develop new capabilities and seek out best available technologies to maintain/advance our manufacturing process

  • Lead advice technical COPs (communities of practice) across all BUs to ensure sites follow aligned SCJ standards and ANSI guidelines

  • Role model behaviors by actively seeking out development areas of deep technical mastery, while broadly reapplying expertise to provide business building opportunities

  • Partner with IT on Plant Digitization design and deployment (including Industry 4.0, MES, process hyper instrumentation)

  • Create/develop training packages to coach and develop site electrical engineers (both internal and externa;) - fostering a learning culture to enable continued growth of our resource pool and maintaining BU expertise over the next decade

REQUIRED EXPEREINCE YOU'LL BRING:

  • Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering

  • Minimum 6 years of experience leading all aspects of electrical design, experience in plant factory environment, with capital project leadership

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

PREFERRED EXPEREINCE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong working knowledge and experience with Rockwell Automation PLC-5 and Control Logix platform, AutoCad, Rockwell RSlogix 5, 5000, and Studio 5000

  • Ability to read, interpret, and create engineering drawings

  • Expereince in contractor and vednor management

  • Ability to independently develop and manage project scope, cost estimate, and schedule

  • Ability to lead MRA (Machine Risk Assessment) inisiatives and electrical GEMBAs

  • Demonstrate ability to develop and maintain electrical standards

  • Prioritize and plan work activities, sets clear goals, and objectives

  • Must have ability to prioritize and execute simultaneous project and support activities

  • Able to balance team and individual responsibilities to support overall objectives

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Knowledge and experience in TPM, Early Management methodology, and Lean Manufacturing

  • Demonstrated examples of problem solving

  • Displays original thinking and creativity that generates innovative solutions

  • SAP, Microsoft Project, MS Office

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full time, with occasional Operations support outside of core business hours to support 24x7 Manufacturing and Engineering environments

  • Travel 5-10%

  • Full Time, 1st Shift. Occasional off shift flexibility for night or weekend work as projects require.

  • This position is not eligible for domestic relocation
