Summary:

Under the guidance of the department leadership, this role is responsible for executing coatings strategies and tactical plans at the Astemo Berea Plant. The position collaborates with the leadership team to establish priorities and objectives and ensures their effective implementation. This role supports production, while acting as a strategic partner to other departments across the organization. This role exercises independent judgment regularly while operating within established guidelines.

Essential Functions:

  • Completing required tasks in a safe & responsible manner.
  • Continuous improvement, capability, quality, machine uptime, cost reduction.
  • Equipment troubleshooting & performing PM's in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining proper levels of various chemicals and paint in E-Coat and plating departments.
  • Conducting process maintenance for chrome & zinc plating functions.
  • Monitoring & maintaining of chrome & zinc bath chemistry, concentrations, & titrations (including process control & verification).
  • Maintaining excellent 5S.
  • Handling & treatment of waste.
  • Conducting rack count & maintenance to ensure full systems.
  • Scrap monitoring, reporting, & reduction.
  • Training operators on processes & process changes.
  • SPC as needed.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional support groups as needed to plan downtime for modifications & maintenance.
  • Supporting Production Engineering with process improvements and troubleshooting.
  • Assist Maintenance with major projects and/or shutdown work.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Possess ability to perform duties utilizing current company software applications (including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, and current ERP system). Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills required. This position performs job duties in an ethical and professional manner.

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or Associates Degree preferred.
  • At least 3 years prior related experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift/move up to 40lbs.
  • Ability to work 40hrs + per week.
  • Up to 10% domestic and international may be required as needed.
  • Working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to office and laboratory areas.
