The Mass General Interventional Pulmonology Program manages patients with complex respiratory problems, including lung cancer and pleural disease, using techniques that are less invasive than traditional surgical methods. These techniques often reduce the recovery time, complication rate and discomfort associated with more invasive procedures.
The PSPU Medical Assistant, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for assisting the Interventional Pulmonary team with evaluation, management, and treatment of patients during office visits, procedures and other tasks related to the visit/procedure consistent with his/her training and skills. His/her primary roles are to assure efficient patient flow through the unit; to maintain neat, clean and safe patient care areas, and to promote patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner consistent with their needs. The role responsibilities include a balance of clinical work and patient care, administrative work, and procedural support. Candidate must be able to effectively multi-task between responsibilities, be self-driven and proactive, and exhibit flexibility in a fast-paced, acute setting. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
