Overview
ENERCON's Energy Group (EG) provides engineering design support to industrial facilities, traditional power generation facilities (natural gas, steam, and hydro turbines), as well as alternative, renewable, and sustainable power generation facilities (waste-to-energy, solar, wind, and hydrogen). EG focuses on green energy solutions that achieve large-scale production with minimal environmental impacts. We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor to join the ENERCON Team in Kennesaw, GA or Tampa, FL. In this role, your key responsibilities will be to supervise an Engineering Unit, typically discipline-specific, comprised of Work Group Lead Engineers and engineering staff.

Leadership in Products & Deliverables: Serve as the primary contact for the unit, defining scope of work with Management, PMs, and engineers. Assign and balance work across teams. Establish and enforce quality standards for the unit through Lead Engineers. Take responsibility for budget, schedule, and approvals for assigned projects and engineering documents produced by the unit. Certify design documents in compliance with state, local, and code requirements. Support the Client Engineering Manager in maintaining, updating and executing Continuous Improvement Plans
- Business Development & Client Relationships: Lead proposal preparation with input on scope and budget, collaborating with PMs. Develop strong relationships with clients and market the unit's expertise/abilities
- Leadership & Staff Development: Identify and promote training opportunities (e.g., owner's groups, manufacturers, professional societies) as well as site work opportunities. Utilize the review/approval process of deliverables as technical training opportunity for staff.
Provide timely and appropriate performance feedback and coaching. Promote professional development (ex: professional license, certifications, and client qualifications). Demonstrate technical leadership and resolve issues through personal expertise or collaboration - Organizational Support & Resource Management: Assign unit's Responsible Engineer (RE) and provide recommendation to the Client Engineering Manager of the discipline of the Lead Responsible Engineer (LRE). Assign engineering resources to projects through the Lead Engineers. Approve timesheets, expense reports, and conduct annual performance appraisals for team members. Support recruitment and staffing efforts. Maintain short- and long-range staffing projections based on work projections
- Contribution to Business Goals: Meet applied time goals and ensure alignment with division and company objectives. Support company policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum 8 years of Mechanical Engineering experience
- Minimum 2 Years of experience leading employees as a lead or Supervisor
- 5 or more years of experience supporting power industry required
- PE License in one or more states strongly preferred and able to obtain licenses in other states as necessary
- Required to travel up to 20 - 25% of the time to client sites (expected to travel at least one time per month) for project and/or marketing meetings. Activities at client sites may require pre-job briefs and walkdowns at the site, including occasional climbing
- Excellent verbal communication skills; Comfortable and effective communicator with team, clients, management, etc., choosing the right mode of communication for the situation and relaying the right message
- Strong technical writing skills and attention to detail
- Strong coordination and team building skills; demonstrated ability to work across disciplines, divisions, and teams
- Ability to assess and understand team strengths and weaknesses, and adjust level of support/oversight as appropriate
- Ability to motivate team and achieve goals through positive, winning attitude and effective leadership style which is consistent with ENERCON's Defining Excellence fundamentals
