Job Summary

As a patient services supervisor, you will assist in the successful operation and quality service of the food & nutrition services department of a hospital with an average daily census of 300-325 patients daily. In this role, you will provide supervisory support of the patient tray line and hospital cafe, feed the patients, staff, and supervising the kitchen and an hourly staff of about 16. This is an exciting opportunity for a supervisor who is seeking a career avenue into the food and nutrition industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures patient and client satisfaction by going above and beyond expectations
  • Performs cash drawer reconciliations and supports the closing of point of sale systems at the end of shifts
  • Provides alternatives to menu as allowed on prescribed diet in accordance with food allergies and sensitivities, cultural, ethnic and religious preferences, when patient inquires or needs additional selections.
  • Interacts with nursing and evaluates daily patient meal selection, tray completion, tray delivery and tray retrieval process.
  • Resolves patient concerns or complaints immediately and/or reports concerns to supervisor as appropriate.
  • Assists in the responsibility for all food service related activities and be primarily involved in patient meal assembly and delivery; including quality improvement, sanitation, infection control and all facility-related activities.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of food service experience with 1+ years in a supervisory role
  • Experience in accurately handling dietary needs, including restrictions, food sensitivities, and allergies
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations
  • Some knowledge of food trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to establish relationships with management, clients, patients, guests, and associate levels
  • Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet
  • ServSafe Certification
