Job Summary:
The Outreach Specialist plays a vital role in connecting Wisconsin Public Radio's (WPR) award-winning content and our vibrant communities in southwestern Wisconsin. Working alongside our statewide Regional Outreach team, you will report to the Regional Manager to help craft meaningful connections that bring public radio to life beyond the airwaves. In this job, you will help plan and manage details of all external activities including events, community engagement and a regional e-newsletter. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, demonstrate an open-mindedness for growth and be able to work in independent and collaborative settings, as well as represent WPR professionally in public.
This position will be a part of the La Crosse based regional team which includes regional outreach, business sponsorship, news department and network staff. This position will be on the beautiful campus of University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and the team regularly meets together in person and online to support one another's work across the various departments. The local outreach team consists of the La Crosse Regional Manager, the La Crosse Outreach Specialists and our intrepid volunteers, the Community Ambassadors.
Responsibilities:
Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.
- 5% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
- 50% Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
- 30% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
- 10% Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
- 5% Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers

Education:
Preferred Bachelor's Degree with a focus in marketing, communications, or public relations.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Strong verbal and written communication skills, including using cloud-based technology (Google, Zoom, etc.). - Proven ability to collaborate effectively within an organization. - Demonstrated organizational skills including the ability to work within tight deadlines and manage details. - Proven ability to work effectively with individuals of varied backgrounds to achieve common goals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Professional experience in the area of outreach, engagement or event planning. - Experience creating and distributing promotional materials. - Experience planning and executing public facing events.

This position is an on-site, in-person position. The majority of duties will be performed from our University of Wisconsin-La Crosse office. This person will be expected to represent WPR at events in the community and will be required to travel off-site for site visits, meetings and other events.

Salary:
Minimum $48,107 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications Since this position is part-time (20 hours per week), and in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the pay will convert to an hourly wage with an expected pay range of $23.13 to $26.44 per hour. The annualized rate of pay expected will be between $24,054 and $27,500. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.

This position requires working some evenings and/or weekends.
