Job Summary

This position will serve as the receptionist for the academic office, provide administrative support for faculty, staff and department, providing basic accounting support, and other miscellaneous administrative duties to support the operational needs of the department. The position requires working independently or with general direction to coordinate and follow through with various administrative tasks.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent work-related experience
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining confidential patient medical records, academic and staff personnel records, and departmental business correspondence.
  • Demonstrated experience with word-processing, spreadsheet, electronic communication, slide presentation, and e-mail system (MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and check results for accuracy.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, active listening and critical thinking.
  • Ability to transcribe from dictation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to exercise tact and diplomacy to secure necessary information and cooperation from a variety of individuals to resolve problems and discrepancies.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize workload in a busy office environment. Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions and requests.
  • Ability to respond with flexibility, maintain a high level of productivity, work under pressure, work independently, and use of good judgement in decision-making.
  • Demonstrated typing and proof-reading skills to compose clear, concise and grammatically correct correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively complex computer related issues to users of varying levels of computer understanding.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a high-pace, office environment
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Ability to interpret UC policies and guidelines and department requirements and procedures.
  • General understanding of the UC Davis accounting policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of School of Medicine and Campus facilities and resources.
  • Working knowledge and experience with AggieExpense and AggieEnterprise.

Department Overview

The Department of Urologic Surgery is an academic department within the School of Medicine. The department is responsible for the teaching and training of residents, medical students, clinical and postdoctoral fellows, as well as conducting both basic science and clinical research, including clinical trials, and providing state-of-the-art clinical care services.

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
