About the Position: Our mission in Electric Field Operations is to provide electric service safely and efficiently to all National Grid electric customers. The Electric Field Operation (EFO) department is responsible for installing and maintaining National Grid's Electric Assets. Qualified crews of EFO mechanics will engage in all types of work in line construction, rearrangement, operation, and maintenance work on either the sub-transmission and/or distribution circuits. National Grid is seeking Line Mechanic Helpers for our Overhead NY Line Department in our Western Division (Buffalo, Wellsville, Avon). The Line Mechanic Helper position, under direct supervision in a line crew, serves and performs routine manual functions involving heavy lifting, handle materials, tools and tackle on the ground associated with the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of our electric distribution line system. In addition to a starting wage of $31.57 per hour, we offer excellent benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k), pension, vacation and more. As a Line Mechanic Helper, you will work directly under more experienced Line Mechanics to help maintain and deliver electricity to our customers. As your proficiency increases and your training continues, you will have the opportunity to be promoted/ progressed through the Line Mechanic series, ultimately reaching the Hot Stick level (HelperABCHot Stick).
