One of National Grid New York's biggest operational leadership roles has become available due to internal promotion.

If you have more than 10 years operational leadership experience within large utilities and have significant experience of emergency response and crisis management, we want to hear from you!

As the VP of NY Electric Operations, you will have oversight of the day-to-day operations team, including maintenance, construction and emergency response activities.
Reporting into the COO, Electric Operations, NY, you will deliver a safe and cost-effective operation with a core focus on continuous improvement.

You will be the primary interface with key state regulators and represent the company to a wide audience.

You will have responsibility for aligning the organization to the long-term strategy, have financial responsibility for $200m in operating expenses and a divisional leadership of ~1800 people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership of a large, geographically dispersed team, across various domestic geographies and regulatory jurisdictions.
  • Translate the overall program of work developed by Resource Planning into detailed delivery plans, which are optimized against financial, engineering and resource constraints.
  • Direct and administer activities related to the repair and maintenance within an area, ensuring high productivity and efficient work practices through the effective utilization of the workforce.
  • Drive Safety, Health and Wellbeing (SHW) performance improvement and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • High degree of regulatory engagement, and management of expectations with respect to operations, maintenance and construction
  • Act as the State Incident Commander leading all preparatory and response activities for any significant incident within their geography.
  • Deliver customer satisfaction targets for field operations and assure a high level of performance against customer expectations.
  • Deliver operational targets around restoration of service.
  • Identify and implement best practices / new ways of working to drive productivity and performance across the New York Electric field workforce.
  • Develop and maintain long-term partnership arrangements with contractors, aimed at aligning contractors' objectives with National Grid's and delivering the capital programs in a mutually beneficial and sustainable manner.
  • Strong focus on talent development in the field, ensure focused development is in place and preparing team for additional responsibilities and lateral or progression opportunities.
  • Exercise the normal supervisory functions of employee selection, assignment, transfers, training and development, inclusion and diversity, safety, discipline, performance evaluation, counselling and termination. Manage the work activities of employees establishing clearly defined goals and standards of employee performance.
  • Facilitate and champion labor and union relations in partnership with HR.
  • Act as an ambassador in the field.
Education

Bachelor's degree required. An advanced business degree (MBA) is preferred.

Salary: $246,000 - $290,000 + wider executive compensation

Location: Must be in upstate New York (Albany, Buffalo or Syracuse)
