Position Summary:

The College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking a Construction and Construction Safety Lecturer. The Department of Applied Engineering Technology Management has three majors including Engineering Technology Management, Construction Management and Technology and Engineering Education. The department is looking for a dynamic Lecturer for the Construction and Construction Safety area. The candidate will have shared responsibilities in the different areas instructing at all levels.

This is a full-time, academic year (9 month) position with an anticipated start date of August 25, 2025. Salary for this position is $43,941.00 per academic year. The University of Wisconsin System has a nationally top ranked retirement plan and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include undergraduate teaching of courses in, or related to construction and construction safety, industry safety, materials, heavy equipment, and OSHA 30 courses. The applicant will assist in oversight of the program and engage industry stakeholders through advisory board and professional peer groups.

Additional responsibilities include serving as academic advisor, assisting with maintaining equipment in laboratories, developing curricula, maintaining professional contacts, engaging in scholarly activities, research, continued professional development, and university and community service. Applicants may be asked to teach courses through alternative delivery methods and advise relevant student organizations.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Education Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or safety, and 5 years of construction related professional experience in a closely related field. Applicant will be required to obtain a Master's within 2 years of hiring.


OR



  • Master's Degree and 5 years experience in at least one of the following: Construction Management, Industrial Technology Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Project Management, Safety engineering, or related field preferred.


Skills Experience, and Certification Requirements



  • Certified OSHA trainer credentials or willing to obtain in the first year.
  • Demonstrable skills in oral and written communication in the English language.
  • Observable dedication to undergraduate education.
  • Demonstrated understanding of theories and an ability to teach using technology and machines/equipment in a hands-on laboratory or industrial setting.
  • Ability to interact with industry, enthusiasm for professional engagement with students in and out of the classroom.
  • Ability to work with colleagues in a collegial environment to prepare grants, conduct research, and seek external funding.
