Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear Engineering Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in our Digital Reactor Technology and Development department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.

You will apply machine learning applications to further the laboratory's vision to change the world's energy future. The work is supported by Department of Energy programs (Light Water Reactor Sustainability, Advanced Reactor Technology, etc.) and Laboratory directed research and development. You will support the RAVEN (https://github.com/idaholab/raven) development efforts and apply machine learning algorithms to solve problems for nuclear applications.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • PhD in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, or related engineering field
  • Knowledge with machine learning and artificial intelligence (supervised learning, unsupervised learning, reduced order modeling)
  • A good understanding of one fields among the following: nuclear reactor related thermohydraulic, safety, and system, reactor physics, fuel performance, data science.
  • Proficiency with object-oriented programming and python
  • Demonstrated oral and published written communication skills (in English)
  • Experience with the RAVEN software
  • Knowledge of software management platform (svn, git etc.)
  • Experience in working on the development of a large software platform

Annual Salary: $101,196
