Position Overview

Position Summary:
The college of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking a qualified candidate to teach as a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Spanish. This is a residential appointment and campus presence is required. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately; position will remain open until filled. Start date is August 2025.


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:Responsibilities include 4/4 teaching load, scholarship, and service. Teaching load will include 1000- and 2000-level foundationalSpanish courses in addition to a variety of upper-division courses.Courses may be offered in-person, hybrid, or online. The candidate is expected to serve the institution and remain active in the profession. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Ph.D in Spanish required (ABD considered).
  • Ideal candidates will have a strong generalist academic background and expertise in, but not limited to, one or more of the following fields: Peninsular literature, translation/interpretation, and/or Peninsular culture and civilization. Latin American literature, linguistics, or second language acquisition is a plus.
  • Experience in online and/or hybrid settings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:
Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
