Position Summary

The Trade Compliance Analyst licenses, documents, plans, schedules, and routes imports and exports. The Trade Compliance Analyst also monitors the flow of product into and out of the United States and ensures compliance with local law enforcement, state gun laws, federal regulations and international treaties.

Job Duties

  • Updates and maintains all import and export compliance procedures relative to supply chains with input from Trade Compliance Manager (TCM).
  • Monitors statutory and regulatory changes; studies and advises TCM on the impact of such changes on import and export processes and procedures and effect on business.
  • Monitors and revises product classification matrix in accordance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) regulations, the US Customs Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS) and Schedule B.
  • Monitors and ensures that product flow meets applicable trade compliance regulations and that all import/export documentation is complete and correct.
  • Analyzes purchase orders to verify appropriate federal, state, and local law enforcement trade compliance regulations are met.
  • Prepares, submits, and monitors U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of State, and ATF import/export license applications.
  • Coordinates with shipping, logistics, and freight forwarder to schedule and route imports and exports to ensure the efficient flow of goods.
  • Provides both formal periodic and day-to-day training to employees involved in trade compliance.
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate databases, documentation, and reports to reflect import and export activities.
  • Monitors and generates performance metrics for import and export licensing processes.
  • Assists TCM with internal and external audits.
  • Identifies import and export issues and supports TCM in investigation and resolution of trade compliance problems, questions, or complaints.
  • Maintains and updates as needed the libraries for the Trade Compliance Gateway homepage.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Educational Requirements

High school diploma is required. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred.

Experience Requirements

Three years of experience directly related to international trade compliance is required.

Training

Candidate will be required to attend, at a minimum, one internal or external ITAR/Commerce or ATF related training seminar annually.

Working Conditions

Typical office environment with some travel between buildings and to other locations required. May be exposed to loud noises, toxic chemicals, and dangerous machinery when on the plant floor.
