Assists pharmacy department with variety of vital functions including maintaining automation, performing quality improvement/data collection, evaluation/maintenance of clean room/compounding areas, oversight of daily technician roles, ensuring compliance with regulatory/accreditation standards and processing of medication orders and or medication requests from a pharmacist. This position provides organizational and technical support to ensure proper preparation of pharmaceuticals and compliance with established protocol and guidelines for pharmacy operations.

The Lead Pharmacy Tech will be working 7on/7off , 12pm-10:30pm

Lead Technician- Medication Reconciliation

  1. Maintains a broad knowledge of retail, community medications.
  2. Conduct medication history for patients being admitted to inpatient status
  3. Actively communicate with patients and patient families to collect accurate medication histories
  4. Actively communicate with retail pharmacies and other health care providers to collect accurate medication histories
  5. Works directly with providers and pharmacists to identify potential problematic medication history.
  6. Serve as an expert resource for Cerner medication reconciliation program
  7. Maintains resources for medication reconciliation education.
  8. Participates in development and coordination of pharmacy staff education, specifically to medication reconciliation process.
  9. Participates in nurse/provider staff education, specifically to medication reconciliation process.
  10. Collects metrics for medication reconciliation efficiency and efficacy.

REQUIRED:

  1. Current registration as a Licensed Pharmacy Technician in the State of Georgia.
  2. Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) by PTCB or National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
  3. Three (3) years of experience in either hospital or advanced pharmacy role.
