Overview

CJE SeniorLife Tamarisk NorthShore has been welcoming older adults 65 and better since opening in August 2020. This exceptional independent senior living community (managed by CJE SeniorLife, a proud affiliate of Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago) boasts 240 elegant apartment residences. Residents enjoy top-notch service and a wide array of expansive amenities, making Tamarisk NorthShore a truly special place to call home.

When serving in this assignment, this individual ensures the highest quality food and beverage service according to CJE SeniorLife policies & procedures, and County Guidelines.

Server: When serving in this assignment, this individual provides quick, efficient and pleasant service of food and beverage to residents and guests ensuring the needs of both are met. They also must keep dining room areas clean and sanitary according to CJE SeniorLife policies & procedures, and County Guidelines.

Busser: When serving in this assignment, this individual is responsible for providing support to the Dining Services department by maintaining a pleasant and clean dining environment through the removal of soiled dishes and re-setting of tables and ensuring the quality and standards of food and service are in accordance with CJE SeniorLife standards.

Compensation: $17.99

Dues-paying membership in Service Employees International Union Local 73 is a condition of employment for part-time and full-time employees (but not flex employees).

Shift

Evenings and weekends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • All:


    • Comply with all state and local health codes for food handling.
    • Adhere to the personal hygiene policy.
    • Attend all required training, in services, and staff meetings.
    • Meet all department training standards through regulatory training and/or other necessary training modules as required.
    • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward all residents, visitors and coworkers.
    • All dietary department personnel should follow safety precautions to prevent accidents in food preparation according to our accident prevention in food preparation and prevention of back injury policy.
    • Affect budgets by avoiding waste of products and time.
    • Strive to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Server:


    • Accept food order, communicate to kitchen and deliver food and beverage to residents and/or guests in a timely manner in accordance with Company policies, procedures and standards.
    • Ensure resident/guest satisfaction by responding quickly to needs and requests.
    • Collaborate with all staff to ensure timely room service according to our Tray Service/Pick Up related policy.
    • Complete assigned side work and checks out with Manager at completion of shift.
    • Maintain clean and sanitary condition of work areas, china and equipment.


  • Busser:


    • Remove soiled dishes, glasses, and flatware from the tables.
    • Set tables in preparation of dining service.
    • Reset tables with proper setting.
    • Keep bus stations stocked and organized.
    • Complete assigned side work.
    • Respond to resident and guest requests quickly and pleasantly.
    • Assist in service of resident tables whenever requested by the server.
    • Assist in beverage service by pouring coffee, water, getting tea and cold beverages to the residents and guests.
    • Handle china, glassware and equipment safely and quietly to minimize breakage.



  • Other tasks as assigned.


Requirements



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Associate must pass Illinois Food Handler Course within 60 days of hire.
  • Three attempts will be provided to pass this course within the first 60 days of hire.
  • In the event that the associate does not pass the course termination will be pursued. This certification must be maintained throughout the course of employment.
  • Must meet state and local health requirements for food handlers.
  • Must possess valid food handlers permit.
