Tufting Mender

Shift: 7:00am to 7:00pm Swing Shift

A mender is responsible for repairing voids of yarn in rolls using a mending gun and for performing quality inspections of turf. Menders work closely with tufting machine operators and creelers as part of a crew who are responsible for producing first quality artificial turf.

• Repair turf by using mending gun
• Assist tufting machine operator in performing quality-related checks throughout the shift
• Ability to read and understand tufting work order (product setup specs, yarn lots, backing, width, etc.)
• Perform visual quality inspections throughout shift.
• Run tufting machine as a back-up (during breaks).
• Use tufting roll meter to ensure rolls are correct length.
• After roll is doffed, enter production into computer.
• Assist tufting machine operator in performing crossed end checks, weight checks, line checks, and backing changes.
• Keep work area in a clean and orderly manner.
• Follow all safety guidelines.
• Work alongside tufting machine operators to ensure efficient workflow and meet production goals.
• Notify supervisor immediately of any safety, quality, or productivity issues.
• Other duties may be assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

• Capable of quickly identifying and addressing issues in the tufting process.
• Works well in a team environment and communicates effectively with other team members.
• At least one-year previous experience in textile manufacturing or tufting processes preferred.
