Tufting Machine Operator

Shift: 7:00am to 7:00pm Swing Shift

A tufting machine operator is responsible for operating a tufting machine to create high-quality artificial turf products. Tufting machine operators ensure the safe and efficient operation of the machine, monitor production processes, and uphold strict quality standards.

• Assist mender in performing quality-related checks throughout the shift.
• Ability to read and understand tufting work order (product setup specs, yarn lots, backing, width, etc.)
• Check specifications for the order being tufted using creel setup and order approval checklists.
• Perform visual quality inspections throughout shift.
• Perform crossed end checks, weight checks, line checks, and backing changes.
• Thread needles and replace any yarn that may have run out from the creel.
• Mark and doff all rolls tufted.
• Record all production information onto the Daily Manufacturing Report.
• Collaborate with other team members, such as quality control and maintenance staff, to improve production processes and address issues.
• Perform minor maintenance on machines as needed (i.e. blade changes, needle changes, etc.)
• Keep work area in a clean and orderly manner.
• Follow all safety guidelines.
• Ensure efficient workflow and production goals are met.
• Notify supervisor immediately of any safety, quality, or productivity issues.
• Other duties may be assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

• Capable of quickly identifying and addressing issues in the tufting process.
• Works well in a team environment and communicates effectively with other team members.
• At least one-year previous experience in textile manufacturing or tufting processes preferred.
