STV is currently seeking a Water Resources/Drainage Engineering Specialist for our Transportation & Infrastructure division in our Morrisville, NC office. This position provides an opportunity to work on a variety of public projects with a focus on Transportation Drainage design. The successful candidate will be designing and coordinating with senior staff. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative, self-motivated, and detail-oriented professional who enjoys being part of a strong team environment! Will also have opportunities to assist other civil disciplines' design efforts, including geometric design for road and bridge projects (these skills are not required and can be learned on numerous projects).

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the development of Drainage designs for DOT and municipal projects.
  • Preparing Drainage plan sets for transportation projects with direction from senior staff.
  • Assisting in the preparation of technical reports, cost estimates, and project specifications.
  • Effectively communicating to managers task status and issues encountered related to meeting internal deadlines.
  • Participate in project development meetings with clients and other design team members.
  • Assisting in the development & mentorship of junior Drainage engineers.
  • Coordinating Drainage designs with other civil/transportation disciplines including Roadway, Structures, Utilities, & MOT.
  • Assist with permitting projects through various water management districts.
  • Opportunities to play a role in project development with both existing and new clients.

Required Skills:

  • 0-3 years of civil engineering experience, with previous Drainage design experience being a plus.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Master of Science (MS) Degree in Civil Engineering is a plus.
  • Engineer Intern (EI) Certification or immediate intent to complete the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
  • Basic understanding of hydrologic & hydraulic theory and design methodologies.
  • Experience using CADD and mapping software such as OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ESRI ArcMap.
  • Experience with stormwater design software such as StormCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, EPA-SWMM, Pond Pack, and Geopak Drainage is a plus.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships.
  • Excellent time management skills, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn.

Compensation Range:

$55,640.14 - $74,186.85
