Construction Inspector

STV is seeking a Construction Inspector - Concessions/Fit-Out for our PM/CM group in NYC

The candidate is responsible to oversee the interior build-out of commercial and concession spaces, ensuring compliance with fire protection, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) requirements. The inspector will be responsible for monitoring work quality, adherence to specifications, and ensuring all safety and regulatory standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect construction work for compliance with approved plans, specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
• Ensure proper installation of fire protection systems, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) elements.
• Monitor contractor performance, quality of materials, and adherence to project schedules.
• Review and verify construction submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs.
• Conduct regular site visits and generate inspection reports documenting progress, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and contractors to resolve construction issues.
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, fire safety regulations, and ADA requirements.
• Assist in reviewing change orders and cost estimates related to fit-out construction.
• Conduct final walkthroughs and inspections before turnover to operations.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Required: 5 years inspection experience preferably in commercial fit-outs, retail, or concession spaces.
• Strong knowledge of fire protection, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations, NFPA codes, and local building codes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in inspection software and Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in airport, healthcare, or large-scale commercial projects.
• Previous work with concessionaire projects or tenant improvements.
• Certification in fire safety or MEP disciplines.

Additional Information:

• Work may require field inspections in active construction zones.
• Some evening or weekend work may be required based on project schedules.
