The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient centeredPRN Staff Nurse to work within our growingOB-GYN Heartland Cliniclocation inCoralville, IA.The obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) specialists at University of Iowa Health Care are skilled at preventing, diagnosing, and treating gynecologic conditions. And whether you're considering pregnancyor navigating menopause, we're also here to offer expert guidance and support.

This position will mainly support our OB-GYN clinic but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations. This is a medical specialty clinic that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics and gynecology health of the reproductive system.

Our Staff Nurses develop relationships and get to know our patients and monitor each family member's health care history and deliver personalized, compassionate care every time to each patient.

This position supportsour clinics team-based care model spending more time within patient care as well asFREE on-site parking!!

Duties to include:



  • Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
  • Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
  • Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
  • Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
  • Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
  • Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.

Percent of Time:PRN

Schedule:Variablehours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, no holiday time, no on-call time; hours to be completed mainly Monday, Wednesday, Friday



  • Availability to provide support other clinics based on clinical hours/need.


Location:Coralville, IA (and surrounding clinic locations as needed)

Salary:$50.00/hour


Education




  • An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader ora Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required




Required Qualifications




  • Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire.



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.



  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.



  • General computer skills are required.



  • Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association.



  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.




Highly Desired:




  • 1 - 2 years Primary Care nursing experience (Family Medicine).

  • 1 - 2 years OB-GYN nursing experience.



  • Previous EPIC experience.



  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing.



  • The ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations is crucial. Float nurses must be comfortable working in various departments and clinics such as primary care and specialty services.




Desired:



  • Minimum 6 months ambulatory experience.

  • If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.



  • Ambulatory nursing care experience, including telephone triage experience in the outpatient setting.


  • Familiarity with UIHC and ambulatory clinic workflows.

  • Collaboration with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff, is essential for providing comprehensive patient care.



  • A strong foundation in clinical nursing skills is essential, including proficiency in assessment, medication administration, critical thinking, and patient education.


  • Demonstrated experiencefostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
