Job Summary
Applies fundamental knowledge of basic principles, theories and concepts and standards related to the design, development, testing, manufacturing, repair and certification of aircraft structures, component parts and related component systems and subsystems for operational aircraft that are consistent with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities
- Develops or assists in developing solutions to a variety of routine and standardized engineering or technical problems or assignments following established engineering protocols in the analysis, design and/or repair development of aircraft structures, power plant component parts, mechanical and electrical systems/structures and subsystems for commercial, military, executive, general aviation, or special purpose applications on operational aircraft.
- Reviews and interprets engineering proposals and documentation such as drawings, material and product specifications, structural repair manuals (SRMs), component maintenance manuals (CMMs) and illustrated parts lists (IPLs/IPCs) to assist in determining design and/or repair schemes approaches; confers with more experienced engineering personnel to clarify or resolve problems.
- Assists in the design and development and/or repair of structural, power plant and other operational and structural components that are used in operating aircraft; this includes producing or assisting in the production of computer aided drawings and engineering reports.
- Develops design and/or repair data packages and obtains FAA approvals through internal and external FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs); troubleshoot failure modes, communicate and interact with customer engineering groups and/or internal personnel for design, development and/or cost effective repair schemes and approvals.
- Assists in developing analytical programs concerned with ground or flight testing, or development of acoustic, thermodynamic, and propulsion systems; assists in conducting analytical studies on engineering proposals to develop design for products.
Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment. |
Minimum Qualifications |
Education Requirements
Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree. Engineering. If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.Experience Requirements 0-3 year(s) Related experience and/or training. Skills and Competencies
- Must be able to arrive to work on time and attend regularly.
- Must be able to fluently read and write the English language, perform basic mathematical calculations and interpret and comprehend company policies, procedures, safety instructions and other like documents.
- Competent in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel and standard office equipment.
- Communicates effectively using electronic media and in written and verbal forms.
- Good communication skills, tailoring to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Makes telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and makes formal presentations to small or large groups.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
