Collections Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Collections Representative to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for contacting customers to collect payments on overdue accounts, negotiating payment plans, and resolving billing disputes. You will also maintain accurate records of all collection activities and contribute to the overall financial health of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contact customers via phone, email, and written communication to collect payments on overdue accounts.
• Negotiate payment arrangements and settlement terms with customers.
• Monitor accounts for discrepancies, errors, or disputes and work to resolve them in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of collection efforts in the system.
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., billing, customer service) to ensure account accuracy and resolve customer concerns.
• Follow company policies and legal guidelines regarding collections practices.
• Provide outstanding customer service while maintaining professionalism and empathy during difficult situations.
• Meet or exceed departmental goals for collections and accounts receivable aging.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred).
• Previous experience in collections, accounts receivable, or customer service is preferred.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to handle difficult conversations with professionalism and tact.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
• Proficient in using MS Office and collections software.
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to collections is a plus.
