Overview

The Reagent Manufacturing Scientist I follows Myriad's policies and procedures to manufacture and qualify all materials and reagents used in Myriad's patient testing laboratories, in accordance with the company's procedures and under appropriate supervision. The Manufacturing Scientist I independently troubleshoots low to moderate-complexity issues and helps to develop manufacturing process improvements.

Responsibility

  1. Formulate high and moderate-complexity DNA sequencing reagents and kits for use in patient testing (~30%).
  2. Perform inspections and qualification testing for both formulated and incoming reagents and kits, for use in patient testing (~30%).
  3. Dispense and aliquot bulk reagent formulations using automated liquid handling robots for individual use in patient testing (~20%).
  4. Prepare, package, label, and deliver tested and approved reagents to laboratories and stock rooms for use in patient testing (~10%).
  5. Document all reagent formulation, qualification testing, and dispensing per regulatory and company requirements (~10%).
  6. Complete training in 80-100% of all reagent manufacturing processes, as well as all internal and external regulatory requirements.
  7. Trains new Reagent Manufacturing employees on low to moderate-complexity manufacturing procedures and qualification testing.
  8. Troubleshoots low to moderate complexity quality issues in the Reagent Manufacturing laboratory.
  9. Works with management to develop new internal process improvements.
  10. Performs routine preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.


Shift: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm

Pay: Starting at $26.68/hr

Qualifications

  1. Required Education/Credentials

    1. BS/BA Degree in Biology or related field.
    2. 2-5 years of related diagnostic laboratory manufacturing experience.

  2. Required Experience/Skills

    1. Strong knowledge of molecular biology laboratory techniques.
    2. Experience in cGMP or other regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
    3. Understanding of basic automated liquid handling platforms used in the Reagent Manufacturing laboratory.
    4. In-depth knowledge of manufacturing documentation and review practices.
    5. Working knowledge of external regulatory and auditing requirements (CAP/CLIA, FDA, ISO).
    6. Working knowledge of downstream production flows and how/why formulated reagents are used in production.
    7. Moderate to advanced computer skills, including some high complexity applications.
    8. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while completing assignments independently.
    9. Good written and verbal communication skills.



Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements - medium work or exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force consistently. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, reaching, and repetitive motion. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions. Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions - exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, and radiant energy hazards. OSHA Category I - duties performed routinely requires exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.
