We are looking for a new member to join the Bioinformatics software engineering team at Myriad and help support our sequencing and analytical pipelines responsible for delivering meaningful health impact to hundreds of thousands of patients a year.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary R&D environment as we build innovative solutions for bioinformatics software systems. They will have a keen interest in working closely with lab scientists while assisting with solving software problems in an operational setting. They will also enjoy developing software solutions and tools to assist scientists and computational biologists in managing their data. This position will work closely with other software teams building LIMS, call review, reporting, and other systems. This will be an amazing opportunity for the successful candidate to be trained in advanced software engineering, cloud computing, and bioinformatics.

Location: South San Francisco, CA position (Hybrid)

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Work with lab scientists to operationalize sequencing efforts. Assist with issues arising with BaseSpace, Illumina software, LIMS systems, and other key pieces of software and equipment.

• Work closely with LIMS teams to develop interfaces and APIs, driving production scaling and operational excellence.

• Handle support tickets in a timely fashion. Escalate tickets to appropriate senior engineers and work with them to document and resolve issues. Learn systems and procedures to effectively resolve issues. Suggest and implement improvements to software to resolve future problems.

• Assist in workaround procedures. Assist computational biologists in running analyses and locating data.

• Follow lab safety protocols. Adhere to and champion the highest levels of quality and safety for our employees and patients. Follow, write, and improve SOPs.

• Participate in gathering requirements from users and lab directors. Work with TPMs to define and prioritize requirements.

• Develop bioinformatics analysis and data management software. Learn a wide variety of systems and participate in debugging and code review. Develop systems to load data in LIMS, track and manage data, and provide GUI interfaces for scientists and computational biologists.
