College COACH Summer Internship: Childcare Center Intern

The opportunity

The College COACH summer internship is a paid program running from Monday, June 9-Friday, August 8, 2025. In addition to on-the-job training and work experience, the program includes workshops and additional development programs. College students will work 35 hours/week.

The childcare center strives to meet the childcare needs of employees of Boston Children's Hospital and seeks to reflect the diversity of the hospital staff. Our staff is committed to providing the highest quality care for children. We seek to provide all children with a program that is developmentally appropriate and nurturing. We work toward fostering children's social, emotional, and cognitive growth while ensuring children's safety and security. Above all, we seek to meet children's individual needs, in a respectful and loving way, within the structure of our program.

What you'll do

Interns are expected to come in each day with a positive attitude, ready to engage with children ages 6mo-5yrs old. Responsibilities included, but are not limited to:

  • Learning from the teaching team in creating a caring, safe and stimulating environment that promotes children's growth and development.

  • Engaging actively with children during activities and learning to foster their social, emotional and cognitive development.

  • Assisting in preparing and serving snacks, ensuring adherence to health and safety guidelines.

  • Contributing to maintain a clean and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration.

  • This position is fully onsite.

  • Interns will learn from teachers who have been in the field of early childhood education for 3+ years.

  • They will have fun engaging in playful activities that support children's growth and development in a safe and nurturing environment.

  • They will learn how to develop trusting relationships with the children and their families.

  • Interns will learn how to support children's self-esteem and growth. Along with working collaboratively to create and implement emergent curriculum for the children.

Who you are

  • You are an undergraduate college student interested in working in healthcare.

  • Interns must know how to use a computer.

  • Have basic reading and writing skills.

Recruitment process

  • Internship opportunities: We aim to have all summer internship opportunities posted by February 28. They will be posted on a rolling basis as managers determine their availability to host an intern.

  • Resume review & interviews: Applications will be screened, forwarded to managers as appropriate, and interviews will be scheduled.

  • Offer decision: We will follow up within one week of your interview.

  • Onboarding: Those selected for the internship program will complete onboarding by May to ensure a smooth start to the program.
