ISS Real Time Embedded Software Engineer

The ISS Real Time Embedded Software Engineer will:

* Design, code, and test ISS vehicle control software to defined requirements, and develop and release accompanying documentation
* Support full life-cycle software development including requirements analysis, software architecture, design, coding, unit test, integration test, and customer reviews
* Participate in requirements, design, code, and test reviews
* Execute tests using simulated environment and in lab environment
* Troubleshoot software issues
* Identify and document discrepancies and problems
* Support process improvement initiatives to facilitate and expedite software development and test
* Work with other engineers in a team environment

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

BS/BA degree in (or soon to graduate with) computer engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university, or any equivalent combination of education/experience
• Familiarity with ISS Vehicle Control ECZ Software

Preferences:

• Experience with software development and/or testing with the International Space Station flight software, including testing using MADE and MATE
• Familiarity with Object oriented and Agile software development methodologies
• Demonstrated ability to design, code, debug, and test software
• Experience with real-time embedded software development and/or test
• Experience with space avionics software development
• Experience in software development using languages like C, C++, Ada, Python, Perl, etc.
• Knowledge of 1553 or similar bus communication protocols
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal using the English language
• Ability to work in both a team environment and independently

Essential Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation

• Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task
• Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
• Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical
• Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required
• Must be able to work in a team atmosphere
• Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
• Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
• This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed
