Pavion and our family of companies are seeking a talented and motivated Security Presales Engineer to join our security business unit.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Perform cost estimating of CCTV, Access Control & Intrusion Detection Systems
  • Manage the design process, create material list and project scope documents
  • Survey existing security systems and provide detailed upgrade or replacement information
  • Create submittal packages of designed systems
  • Coordinate engineering deliverable schedules with project stakeholders
  • Prepare design documents, specifications and drawings required for design/build project
  • A complete understanding of the principles and concepts of access control, intrusion detection and camera surveillance systems
  • Demonstrated ability in Excel and Word
  • The ability to provide detailed material and labor cost estimates
  • Proficient in reading and understanding RFP documents, contract specifications, life safety, architectural and electrical drawings
  • The ability to review any local, state or federal codes and interpret these codes as related to a project
  • Understanding of hardware schedules and how to apply to designs
  • Understanding of Door Hardware and Schedules
  • In-depth knowledge of life safety systems (fire alarm, mass notification, etc.) and security systems (CCTV, access control, intrusion detection)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools for system layouts and schematics
  • Strong understanding of networking and communication protocols in safety/security systems


Basic Qualifications:




  • High School Diploma or GED


  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in security system design (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection)


  • Experience with AutoCAD


  • Expertise in industry standards (NFPA, UL, local codes) and knowledge of relevant safety and security technologies


  • Fundamental understanding of Excel and Word



Preferred Qualifications:



  • DCJS Electronic Security Technician
