Our long-term client relationship with Jacobs has led to a need for a Deputy Project Manager - Vibration Isolation System on the Amentum contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX). Responsibilities
The Deputy Project Manager - Vibration Isolation System will:
Provide project management support and project engineering support for the sustainment of the Vibration Isolation
System (VIS) aboard the International Space Station (ISS) through hardware development, troubleshooting, and resupply
This hardware is embedded in and managed within the Advanced Resistive Exercise Device (ARED) team
- Manage VIS project scope, tasking, reporting and milestones
- Develop and maintain technical and financial reports
- Develop and execute project scheduling
- Evaluate and mitigate project risks
- Mentor and review the work of junior team members
- Oversee and develop procedures, work instructions, and process flows
- Interface frequently with inter-organizational disciplines and NASA customers
- Provide project engineering support directly for ARED, as required
- Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed
- Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate failures within flight hardware or test support hardware anticipate in or monitor testing activities when required
- Support on-orbit activities, for maintenance or troubleshooting, as required
- Work in a team environment, and report or project manager for technical support, task assignment, and processes
- Support hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within flight hardware or test support hardware
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
- Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 5-10 years of related
experience. License and certification may be required - Prior experience with Government and internal company financial reporting, including budgeting, forecasting and cost
estimating - Prior experience managing and leading a team
- Experience with NASA/JSC Class I flight hardware process and certification
- Must be able to review Work Authorization Documents (WADs), such as Task Performance Sheets (TPSs), to process Class I hardware for flight/testing support
- Self-motivated, team player and adaptability to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers and management at all levels
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
- Must have the ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical/electrical systems and work with others in problem
solving as part of a team - Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:
- Experience with ISS Countermeasures Systems and in-flight hardware processing for spaceflight
- Experience with Astronaut interface/communication and with on-orbit ISS operations
- Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis
- Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures
- Co-op or Intern experience at JSC or other NASA agency
- Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process.

- Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.

- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
- This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
