Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1st shift

Pay Range (based on experience and qualifications): $65,000 - $85,000 per year.

Position Summary

The Buyer is responsible for the process of buying materials, parts, supplies, and equipment in a timely and cost-effective way while maintaining appropriate quality standards and specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Source, negotiate and coordinate potential and approved suppliers and all related procurement activities with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods, supplier performance.
  • Monitor MRP procurement systems and provide purchasing support for site operations to meet schedules and business objectives.
  • Order placement and confirmation of order acceptance.
  • Order expediting where needed.
  • Resolve supplier issues, disposition returns to vendor and oversee claims to and/or from suppliers and the company.
  • Maintain vendor master maintenance process as required within the department.
  • Ensure Quality programs exist at all major suppliers.
  • Address Quality issues with suppliers to ensure quality meets or exceeds quality requirements and corrective action is implemented immediately upon notification of any failure.
  • Ensure that SOPs and protocols are maintained and applied and participate in the successful execution of department strategies and policies.
  • Report all initiatives to supervisor and provide status updates on a regular basis.
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

  • Education level strongly preferred: associate degree or bachelor's degree in business, operations management, supply chain or equivalent.
  • Experience: One year or more in the Chemical Manufacturing industry is preferred but not required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP system and other office machinery.

  • Ability to be organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to safely and frequently ascend and descend staircases as part of daily activities.
  • Must be willing to shave facial hair as needed to ensure a proper seal for respiratory protection in accordance with the company's Respiratory Protection Program.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently.
  • Must be able to remain on their feet for up to eight hours during shifts in active work environments.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Safety shoes, safety glasses, and flame-retardant uniforms or lab coats are required in production areas.
  • Respirators and ear plugs are required for specific production processes.
