Job Summary

Leads and oversees the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of medical privileges and credentialing policies and procedures. This position requires a high level of expertise in conducting complex analyses of credentialing systems and policies, identifying issues, and formulating strategic solutions. The incumbent will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design and enforce compliance strategies, ensuring all practices meet regulatory and institutional standards. Serving as a subject matter expert, this role ensures adherence to medical credentialing guidelines and offers strategic direction to align operations with institutional goals.

Typically reporting to a Chair, Director, or equivalent administrative management. Regularly working on highly complex issues, the incumbent will exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to address challenges and achieve desired outcomes. This role requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors, using a strategic approach to ensure effective results and efficient operations.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $109,400 - $164,400 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco is one
of the largest departments in the School of Medicine. The Department of Radiology provides service for
UCSF's six integrated facilities: Moffitt/Long Hospital, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, San
Francisco Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Mt. Zion Hospital, China Basin, and the Mission Bay
Hospital. The department has 32 sections and research units, and has over 200 salaried faculty and nonfaculty
academics. There are also approximately 75 volunteer clinical faculty.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Advanced knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
  • Advanced skills in short- and long-term strategic planning, analysis, problem-solving and customer service.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.
