Job Description:

Are you passionate about EHS and eager to tackle real-world challenges? At Jubilant HollisterStier, we're excited to offer you the opportunity to join our dedicated EHS team as an EHS Intern. This role will immerse you in hands-on projects where you'll collaborate with experienced EHS professionals, conduct safety inspections, develop and deliver safety training, and analyze safety data. It's a chance to enhance your skills, gain invaluable experience, and make a significant impact on our safety and compliance efforts.

As an EHS Intern, you will support the development and maintenance of a comprehensive occupational safety program for our facility. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting safety inspections and audits.
  • Developing and delivering safety training programs and resources.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and trending safety data.
  • Assisting with various tasks as assigned to support the EHS team.

Additionally, you will collaborate with the EHS Coordinator/Analyst to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to environmental compliance and occupational health and safety (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ANSI, ECY, DOSH).

Responsibilities:

1. Comply with pertinent local, state, and federal EH&S regulations which includes Spokane Wastewater Management, Spokane Fire Department, Spokane Regional Clean Air, EPA, OSHA (L&I, DOSH).

2. Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies during inspections and respond to findings.

3. Understand and implement best practices in industrial hygiene and be proactive in identifying and mitigating risks.

4. Conduct environmental monitoring, compile data, create reports and present findings.

5. Plan and execute compliance and waste reduction projects.

6. Compile data for corporate, local, federal, and state reporting, ensure all reporting is completed on time.

7. Provide training and oversee medical testing programs.

8. Understand and respond to client audits and findings.

9. Investigate safety and health incidents and complaints, track injuries and be responsible for OSHA logs.

10. Participate in Employee Safety Committee.

11. Interact with production staff to minimize/solve manufacturing obstacles.

12. Assist in management of hazardous waste program and waste designation of large quantity generator.

Applicants should be/possess:

  • At least a Junior, preferably Senior or Graduate student
  • Have taken and passed some of the EHS courses: Introduction to environmental sciences/studies and Environmental chemistry or college level chemistry
  • College level writing
  • Regulatory compliance knowledge, or something similar
  • Industrial Hygiene or Public Health courses are a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio
  • Resume and Cover Letter
  • Recommended: Letter of Recommendation from a professor in the EHS department where the student is enrolled
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Available for a 12 week internship between May and September of 2025. We are unable to accommodate internships outside of this time frame.
  • This Internship is in person (Spokane) Therefore, candidates must relocate to team location in Spokane, Washington.

The hourly U.S. pay range for this position is: $18.59- $21.05
