Data Engineer

NS2 Mission is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Data Engineer to join our team in Chantilly/Herndon, VA. In this role, you will support enterprise Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) activities, enabling data delivery to both humans and systems. You will work with structured and unstructured data, develop ETL pipelines, and collaborate with Data Scientists and stakeholders to ensure mission-driven data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines to process structured and unstructured data.
  • Implement data ingestion methods for storage in local and enterprise-level repositories.
  • Develop scripts and tools for data extraction, transformation, and formatting.
  • Analyze source data formats and collaborate with Data Scientists to determine optimal transformations.
  • Enhance and maintain existing ETL solutions using industry best practices.
  • Document ETL mappings, code guidelines, and access instructions.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Hands-on experience with ETL tools and processes.
  • Proficiency in Python, PySpark, and PyTorch.
  • Experience working with AWS services.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database management.
  • Experience integrating and managing APIs.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments.
  • Understanding of geospatial tools and data.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, PI Planning).
  • Knowledge of Docker, Jenkins, Hadoop/Spark, Kibana, Kafka, NiFi, and Elasticsearch.
