Job Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of how many pieces to stretch at a time and how many charges fit on a table based on differentiating products.
- Helps at the finish saw as directed or when necessary to stack metal and maintain press flow.
- Ability to identify mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic problems with the head-stretcher and communicates to frontline leadership or appropriate maintenance resources.
- Protects and handles material with care to prevent scratches, dents, and any damage that can occur while on the handling system and during the stretching process.
- Adheres to stretching procedures via plant systems such as Auto Die Viewer when available, stretching layout and/or other pertinent information.
- Utilizes procedural systems and effective communication with press crew/lead to understand any special instructions, quality alerts, or additional stretching process needs.
- Leads/communicates upcoming stretching process to tail-stretcher with good time management and assists saw crew with setting up dollies, racks etc. to maintain flow.
- Helps assure that all completed racks/free stacks have saw chips blown out efficiently from both ends prior to age, as needed.
- Supports and adheres to frontline leadership, supervisor, or department manager initiatives.
- Instructs and guides tail-stretcher with procedural information, quality alerts, or other critical information that may be rooted from the system, recipe, or other forms of communication - in support of frontline leadership.
- Good understanding of press performance metrics; PPH, recovery, uptime etc. and knowledge of how each are driven.
- Safely optimizes press uptime, scrap rates, productivity, and performance through adherence to policy, procedures, and systems.
- Knowledge of front/rear end-scrap amounts via systems or communication with press team to assure good product is not deformed during the stretch process.
- Self-accountable and owns quality of the extruded product; critical dimensions, finish, use of no/go gages, and quality in relation to customer print, tolerance, and internal expectations - in support of frontline leadership.
- Understands how to review product finish in accordance with the standard and can determine acceptability or unacceptability - communicates any concerns to frontline leadership.
- Ability to check critical dimensions such as gaps, angles, flatness etc. in the process to support frontline leadership.
- Knowledge of hold items on press/shift, helps disposition as needed and supports lead in identifying root cause for completion of non-conformance process
- Develops/trains tail-stretcher on stretcher equipment, operations, process, and systems to the extent that the tail-stretcher can self-operate on the headstock..
- General understanding of department flow; including lot tickets, press schedules, tooling, log inventory levels, material handing at the saw, and through the age oven.
- Supports frontline leadership by being organized at shift change for a smooth transition and without full tables.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Ability to follow directions.
- Must be at least 18 years or older.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure that shows measurements in feet and inches.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent. (preferred)
