Job Overview

The Assistant, Assortment Analyst supports the Assortment team in achieving sales, margin, turn, and growth objectives through assortment optimization. Strong business acumen and an understanding of Merchandising are essential for this role. Collaboration and support for the Assortment team are fundamental requirements to achieve results.

What You Will Do


  • Contribute to the development of assortment plans aligning with overall business and promotional strategies.
  • Collaborate with Merchants to ensure channel plans align with top-line strategic and financial objectives.
  • Support the Assortment team in developing plans that cater to channel needs and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Analyze in-season product performance, focusing on channel demand, class/category performance, style performance, and major marketing performance.
  • Assess assortment effectiveness by channel and respond to business opportunities accordingly.
  • Monitor vendor performance and provide recommendations to the Director of Assortment to maximize profitability.
  • Set allocation parameters, including minimum and maximum values, and efficiently run allocations in the system (A3).
  • Create comprehensive recaps for the Director of Assortment Planning, offering strategic insights derived from the analysis.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of reports to gain insights into in-season product performance, with a specific focus on channel demand, vendor performance, class/category performance, style performance, and location group performance (Region/Tier/Climate).
  • Demonstrate a keen ability to react promptly to in-season sales trends, effectively communicating findings and taking appropriate actions in allocations.
  • Execute reorders as dictated by business needs, ensuring timely and accurate responses to changing demand patterns.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities


Skills You Will Need

Strong Business Acumen: Ability to understand business objectives and how assortment optimization contributes to sales, margin, turn, and growth.

Merchandising Knowledge: Understanding of merchandising principles and practices.

Collaboration: Capacity to collaborate effectively with Merchants and other team members to align assortment plans with overall business strategies.

Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing in-season product performance and assessing assortment effectiveness by channel.

Financial Understanding: Basic understanding of financial performance metrics related to assortment planning.

Proactive Approach: Self-starter mentality, capable of driving forward work independently and identifying opportunities for business growth.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite: Ability to use tools like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for data analysis and communication.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 1-2 years of experience in retail or ecommerce buying or planning.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
