Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $48,600 - Midpoint: $60,800 (Salaried E7)

Department/Organization: 510202 - Timber Management

Normal Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am to 4:00pm

Job Summary: The Off-Campus Land Operations Coordinator coordinates and provides guidance on habitat, trapping projects, and other wildlife related field activities. Determines the behavior, abundance, distribution, survival, mortality, and growth of wildlife and invasive plants. Manages and attends to invasive pests. Assists with forest management activities including, administration of timber sales, forest inventories, prescribed burning, boundary line maintenance, etc. ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Supervises contracted services.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in forestry, environmental science, or wildlife biology.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, materials, and supplies of the job (up to 50lbs). Position will often require long days, on foot, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying. This position will be required to work during all climates of weather, hot, cold, rain, etc., depending on the season. Daily travel and continuous outdoor work required.

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.

Skills and Knowledge: Proficient knowledge and use of areal imagery, topographic maps, GIS mapping software, GPS units (SOLO Field GPS system or the ability to learn), compass, Microsoft tablets, etc. Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. Basic knowledge of plant identification, wildlife habitat, current silviculture practices, harvesting practices, and its application to forest operations.

Proficient use of tools and equipment for building and land management, office equipment.
Ability to operate small and light-duty equipment (UTV, trucks, etc.), work alone and accomplish tasks without direct supervision, operate and communicate as part of a team, communicate in a professional manner effectively and efficiently in stressful environments. Problem resolution, critical thinking, planning, time management, organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications: 2 years work experience preferred.
Certified Burn license. Herbicide/Pesticide applicators license. PLM Certification.
